Puff Pastry Waffles

by

Clinton Kelly

Clinton’s happy kitchen accident turned into the easiest dessert you’ll ever make—crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and perfect with a scoop of ice cream.

Serves:

4-6 Servings

Level:

Beginner

  • 1 package frozen puff pastry (such as Pepperidge Farm)

  • Granulated sugar (for sprinkling)

  • Vanilla ice cream

  • Chocolate syrup

Ingredients

Step 1

Thaw & Cut:

Let the puff pastry thaw in the fridge until pliable. Unfold each sheet and slice into nine squares (like a tic-tac-toe grid) to make 18 pieces total.

Step 2

Sugar Sandwich:

Place one square down, sprinkle generously with sugar, and top with another square to form a “sugar sandwich.”

Step 3

Into the Iron:

Preheat your waffle iron to medium-high (around an 8 on a 1–10 scale). Add the sugar sandwiches and close the lid. Cook for about 6 minutes, or until puffed, golden, and caramelized.

Instructions

  • Carefully remove the hot waffles

  • Top each with a scoop of vanilla ice cream

  • Drizzle generously with chocolate syrup.

  • Serve immediately.
