Super Bowl Smash Burgers

These smash burgers are fast, crispy, and unapologetically indulgent — perfect for feeding a Super Bowl crowd without stress or thermometers.

Burgers

  • Olive oil

  • Kosher salt & black pepper

  • 1 Tbsp unsalted butter

  • 2 cups thinly sliced yellow onion

  • 1½ lbs ground beef (80/20)

  • 16 slices American cheese

  • Shaved iceberg lettuce

  • 4 Martin’s potato slider rolls, toasted

Special Sauce

  • ½ cup Duke’s mayonnaise

  • 2 Tbsp POP Smoked Mustard

  • 2 Tbsp horseradish sauce

  • 1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce

  • Hot sauce, to taste

Ingredients

Step 1: Caramelize onions with butter and salt over medium heat until deeply golden, about 30 minutes. Set aside.

Step 2: Mix all special sauce ingredients in a bowl and refrigerate.

Step 3: Divide beef into eight 3-oz balls and season generously.

Step 4: Heat cast iron pan over medium-high heat with olive oil.

Step 5: Add beef balls and smash aggressively until very thin.

Step 6: Cook 4–5 minutes until deeply browned and crispy.

Step 7: Flip, add cheese, and cook 2–3 minutes until melted.


Instructions

  • Assemble on toasted potato rolls with sauce, onions, lettuce, and patties.
